Jahan Nurmuhamedova
Key information
Jahan is an international educator with over 20 years of experience working with children in diverse educational settings around the world. Born and raised in Turkmenistan, she began her professional journey by earning a degree from a Pedagogical College, laying the foundation for a lifelong career in education. She later pursued graduate studies at Appalachian State University in the United States, where she also worked as a co-teacher in Language Arts in Asheville, North Carolina. Jahan is a certified CELTA English teacher, a qualification that has enabled her to teach English internationally and work within multicultural learning environments. Throughout her career, Jahan has taught in Turkey, Vietnam, and international schools in Vietnam and Korea. In 2021, she joined our school and has been working with us since September 2021 as a Montessori Lead Teacher in the 3–6 age group. Over time, she also assumed the role of Montessori Program Director, supporting the quality and development of our Montessori education. Jahan earned her Montessori diploma from the International Institute of Montessori Teacher Training in Hanoi—an experience she describes as one of the most important decisions of her professional life. In her daily work, Jahan is deeply committed to respecting each child’s individuality. She creates a prepared environment where children are encouraged to work independently, explore at their own pace, and develop confidence, concentration, and a genuine love of learning.
Educational Philosophy
Jahan believes that Montessori education is more than a teaching method – it is a way of seeing the child as capable, curious, and intrinsically motivated. In a thoughtfully prepared, multi-age classroom, children develop independence, responsibility, and respect for themselves and others.
Through hands-on, multi-sensory learning and self-directed exploration, children are supported academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. With guidance from knowledgeable and caring educators, Montessori students grow into confident, critical thinkers who collaborate effectively and act with integrity.
Beyond the Classroom
Outside of school, Jahan enjoys traveling, hiking, practicing yoga, cooking, and continuously learning new skills. Her passion for languages and cultures has made her a true global citizen, bringing a rich international perspective into her work with children.
